The people of Guatemala are beautiful and friendly. They are rightfully proud of their traditions. Their colorful dress and detailed patterns accent the colors and patina of the stucco buildings.
This happy gentleman was selling handmade textile belts in the market in Chi Chi, and was accommodating to pose for me.
The buses in Antigua, Guatemala seem to try to rival the textiles for colorfulness.
There is a lot in the news these days about the children of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, but the daily life in Antigua seemed peaceful, and the people are happy.
The vegetable market in Chi Chi was a remarkable place, with colorful produce, colorful people, and an impressive variety of garden and tropical fruits and vegetables. The people seemed to enjoy visiting with each other as they shopped, and we certainly did.
