Photos: The Beauty of Perito Moreno Glacier

Walking across Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina was a thrill.  The walk across the glacier requires care to make sure that the surface has not cracked or that you do not fall into a crevice.  The guides change the route of the hike so that the path is safe.
The los nostros flower is distinctive to this area.  The lodge where we stayed was named for the flower.
There are an infinite variety of shapes on the front of the glacier.  It is possible to watch sections of the glacier calve off into the lake.
The shark's tooth mountain across the lake provides a dramatic backdrop for the facade of the glacier.  It is possible to take a boat trip across the lake and cruise along the facade of the glacier.
After leaving Perito Moreno Glacier, we took a short flight down to Ushuaia, at the southern tip of South America.  In the Beagle Channel there are lots of penguins.
