The Elegance Underwater at the Sea of Cortez, Mexico

Swimming with the sea lions in the Sea of Cortez was thrilling.  At times they were like underwater acrobats, twirling around us, and at times the performed a ballet for us.
We had never seen chocolate chip starfish until our snorkeling time during our whale watching cruise up the east coast of Baja California this past February.
I normally would not take a photo of a dead animal, but the skeletons of these sea urchins were like eggs under water.
I suppose waves have carved the shape of this rock, although the seas were nice a calm when we were there.
Some of the sea lions would zoom right towards us, swirling away at that last moment.

I cannot overcome my phobia of being underwater in the ocean and I will never experience this for myself, so thank you for sharing your wonderful photos! The shot of the sea lion swimming towards you is particularly fantastic!

You have some really great underwater photos. What a thrill it would be to swim so close to these animals.

Well, Hilda said exactly what I was thinking. So, thank you once again for sharing your fun with one who will never do it myself.

Nice series. I particularly like the bottom one. Sea lions playing chicken, lol.
