Montenegro

Montenegro is blessed with the still waters of Europe's southermost fjord, which lead to the town of Kotor.
This is a closer view of an island in the Bay of Kotor. This long bay provides calm waters for the port of Kotor, Montenegro.
Sveti Stefan, or St. Stephan's, is an island that has now been connected to the coast of Montenegro by a causeway. There are no villagers left on the island. The entire village, dating to the 1500's, is now a resort hotel.
This is one of the small courtyards of Sveti Stefan, or St. Stephen. The last residents of the village left in the 1950's and the entire village has been converted into a luxury resort. This scene is typical of the former village buildings that are now luxury hotel units. Sveti Stefan is located just south of Budva on the coast of Montenegro.
These colorful icons decorate the inside of an Orthodox church in Kotor, Montenegro. We were lucky to be there as a rare ceremony occurred and we watched as the priests entered the sanctuary to the sounds of ancient chants.

Brattcat,

We did not stay at the resort. We had lunch there and walked around it (taking photos, of course). We visited the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia on a small cruise ship, so we stayed on the ship.

I thought the second one would be the best until I got to the last one -- amazing. Good series.

Superb photos! Especially those with still waters. Have been in Montenegro myself (Kotor and Budva) but not on the island, unfortunatelyy as I see :)

The inside of that church is like a jewelry box! Amazingly beautiful and ornate! We'll have to add Montenegro to our list!
