Photos: Camping in the Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon has many moods.  The experience of rafting through the Grand Canyon was an unforgettable adventure.  In addition to the thrill of the rapids, it was 10 days of camping, without access to cell phone or internet service.
Of the 16 people in our group, only two of us used a tent.  Everyone else slept under the stars.  I am not a camper, and that was too rough and lacking in privacy for me.  Besides, I grew up in Arizona.  I know about scorpions, rattlesnakes, and other creatures that I did not want to share my bedding.
We pulled up our rafts on sand bars along the river to find nice places to hike and explore.
i took a trip on the larger, motorized rafts, rather than the small rafts that people paddle.  I took a photography expedition, and our group had way too much gear for the small rafts.
It was a bit of a chore to unload all of the gear when we stopped for the day, but that was part of the experience. We would form a human chain and pass the gear back and forth up the embankment, being careful not to twist our backs and injure ourselves from this little exercise.

What a wonderful experience. So beautifully exotic, yet so close to home.

No cell phone, no internet: sounds great! The scenery on that river is perfect as you have shown in your photos.
