Budapest has impressive architectural features. This emblem is part of a retaining wall on the bluff on the Buda side of Chain Bridge across the Danube.
This is one of the statues on the exterior of the Parliament building, one of the landmarks of the city. It was built from 1884 - 1902.
The Royal Palace, now the Hungarian National Gallery art museum, dominates the hillside of the Buda side of the river. Parts of the palace date back to the 1500's. It suffered damage during World War II.
The Hungarian Parliament was patterned after the British Houses of Parliament. It has a neo-gothic exterior.
The Exterior of St. Stephen's Cathedral is adorned with statues.
This is the dais in one of the chambers of the Hungarian Parliament. This is just one of the 691 rooms of the building. We highly recommend a tour of the inside of the Parliament building for anyone visiting Budapest. The architectural features are exquisite. The photo below is a view of part of the building, taken through the window of another part of the building.
The clocktower of St. Stephen's Basilica is a landmark on the Pest side of the river. It is dedicated to St. Stephen, the first Hungarian Christian king, nearly 1,000 years ago.
This is a view of the Parliament Building taken from the bluff across the Danube. The building is 268 meters (880 ft) long and 96 meter (315 feet) high.
