Jambo from Tanzania

These elephants know how to find some shade to avoid the afternoon sun.
Cape buffalo are curious about us, or our camera. They can be mean, and some of them seem to stand guard for the rest of the herd. They can defend themselves successfully against predators, even lions, unless they are very young or very old.
The beaded jewelry of the Maasi is beautiful. I once bought the earrings that a woman was wearing, and our vehicle was quickly swarmed by other women offering their earrings for sale.
We visited a school of adorable children. My husband and I brought 60 cans of Play-doh, reams of paper, construction paper, scissors, glue, Etch-a-Sketches, and other supplies. Our tour director brought a new desk. The children were so eager to learn and friendly.
When elephants get old and lose their last set of teeth, they leave the herd and stay behind where the softest grass is located, until they finally die from the inability to chew and eat the enormous amount of feed that elephants need.

These photos are gorgeous! They look like something out of National Geographic. I can only dream of seeing things like this in person, so I will live vicariously through your blog.
